I can honestly say that black-African weddings are the most festive, loads of singing & dancing.  I love the way that each side of the bridal party would try and out-sing the other!

Thoko is gorgeous with her swallows nest veil! So chic!  Mtheza was as cool as a cucumber and super-slick in his gray suit!  These guys have style!

Apart from this being my first black-African wedding, other firsts included:
- shooting the entire wedding in JPEG,
- shooting with a videographer with his own photographer,
- Editing in Lightroom 3
- and, using a texture in a photo.

Highights of the day included:

• The racing figurines on the wedding cake (Makkie & Pierre are avid racing drivers)
• Catching up with old friends
• An awesome slideshow presentation by Makkie’s family….WOW!

In the morning, I met up with Angie at the J.C. le Roux Estate, when she was getting ready in one their gorgeous cottages.  It turned out to be a super warm day, but that didn’t hamper the spirits of everyone at the party…and boy, was it a party!

I had a fabulous time and was very impressed at how well the day was planned and executed!

Neels is an ex-pat, and getting married in the most beautiful city in the World was n obvious choice.  The time I spent them photographing their wedding day gave me a great appreciation for family and I got to learn more about Michelle & Neel’s family, and what wonderful people they are.

Louise, who was born and raised in South Africa, met Bing while she was teaching English is Taiwan, and toured Australia. During the day, while shooting Louise’s preparations, I was blown away by how fluently she spoke Mandarin…she’s brilliant! I just loved the strong Chinese  influence and details that this wedding had…very unique!

Their wedding day arrived on a gloriously warm and sunny day following a week of some really windy days.  I headed to Stellenbosch to meet up with the two bridal party’s to shoot their preparations, before heading to the Stellenbosch United Church, where the ceremony was to be held. The reception was held at Kanu.

Thank you Sonje and Tiaan for inviting me to shared in your special day and for being such awesome people to work with…you were complete rock stars!

During their engagement photo shoot, I was able to learn more about this wonderful couple. I learnt how down-to-earth they are. I learnt that their love and respect for each other is true. I learnt that Shereza runs her own beauty salon and that Bertus is a Senior Fire Fighter with the Strand Fire Department *respek!*. I learnt that Shereza and Bertus are scared of spiders

We started the day by meeting Frances at the salon before heading over to Webersburg Estate, in Stellenbosch for the final preparations before the ceremony at the St Pauls Catholic Church, Somerset West.

The reception was a family arranged affair…everyone pitched in and did an awesome job with the decor! The guests were totally funny!

From our first meeting, I could tell that I was dealing with a special couple, both so in love with each other, both with the gentlest of souls.

I can best describe Lynn and Graham’s wedding as a celebration of marriage between two people, powered by the love by their family, friends and love for God.  The ceremony was held at the SDA Chruch in Athlone and we then moved to the wonderful Zevenwacht wine estate for the celebrations.

We were quite concerned on the day of Karen & Chris’s wedding, because of the huge fires that were raging around the Erinvale area, but the fire fighters managed to get it under control.

Shooting the weddings of UK couples is is my #1 favourite, simply because they know how to have the best time!  This wedding was no different.  Our day started with a quick visit to the B&B, in Strand where Chris was preparing, then it was just down the road to Karen’s parent’s house for her preparations.

The ceremony was held in Strand, where we made use of the local beach and sidewalks for some photos.  We then headed to Erinvale for the reception.

It was a magical day! I can’t express the love and happiness that Karen and Chris share for one another…it’s WOW!
