My First DSLR…now what?

It is most likely that you’ve decided to upgrade from a point ‘n shoot (compact) camera to a DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) camera because you heard (and perhaps seen) the improvement in image quality and responsiveness, and have purchased your first DSLR…congratulations!
After playing around with your camera for a while, you may have thought “Crap! What have I gotten myself into?” as you look at the variety of buttons and knobs and realised you’ve bought a computer with a lens!
The good news is that you’re not alone and that there are people that have been through this experience (and survived). I’ll be posting some tutorials to get you more comfortable with your camera so that you may begin to enjoy photography (without doubting your latest purchase).
Until my next installment, I encourage you to read through your camera manual. I can’t stress enough on how important it is to be familiar with its controls!

Wow, I’ve never heard of a DSLR. How long have you had one?

Mitch, I agree with you about knowing the manual. After using my DSLR for nearly a year I went back to the manual and found out how to operate it correctly in that specfic mode….
If all else fails, RT(F)M.
