Wedding: Ronel + Simon (Percy) : South Hill

I’ve been looking forward to shooting this wedding for a while now, not because its the first from my crazy schedule, or because we would be shooting out of Cape Town, but because Ronel & Simon are such a dynamic couple.
The beautiful couple met in Hermanus when Simon started interviewing staff for his tour company, Percy Tours a couple of years ago (It’s not common to interview your future wife
). You should also know that Simon is from England and that his free spirit and love to travel took him all over the world. His travels brought him to the cosy town of Hermanus, where Ronel & Simon’s story begins…
I started the morning of the wedding in Hermanus (Sandbaai), in an awesome beach house, where I got to meet Simons family and friends who had flown in from the UK. I can’t begin to express how funny and chilled the Heywood family are
BTW, Simon’s sister (Amanda Heywood) is an established food photographer from London…no pressure.
I then made my way to South Hill, an amazing little wine estate outside of Grabouw just off the N2, to meet up with Ronel at on-site bridal cottage.
The weather was perfect! Cool and still. The ceremony was held under a great oak tree overlooking the vineyards. Music was supplied by the guitar genius, Steve Newman.
Let’s look at some pictures:

Hi Mitch, your use of off cam flash really of the best I have seen in South-Africa for weddings. Tastefully and Intelligently used. Rock-star cool!

I love the way you take pictures of the details, like the baskets of dried lavender. I have to say I agree with your favourite – the couple kissing in the car! Epic sky too!

Hey Mitch, thank you for taking such great pictures of us on our special day!! We are very happy with your work and will recommend you wherever we go. It was a pleasure having you around, you like a gentle butterfly that flies in and out, stroking us with a paintbrush called snapshot, then fly away for the next shot…
great to have such talented people around us – well done!
